Earlier in 2023, Surfline Ghana ceased its operations in the country. The shutdown came after the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) closed down Surfline due to unpaid taxes totaling GH₵37 million.
This sum included unpaid pay-as-you-earn for employees, communication service tax, and penalties accrued since 2015.
The GRA took this action as the company showed no commitment to resolve the outstanding tax issues, leading to Surfline’s departure from the Ghanaian market.
